OBITUARY
Edward J. Nugent, 82 of Bristol, CT (formerly a 35 year resident of Carmel, NY) died June 28, 2022 after a 3 year battle with cancer surrounded by his loving family.
Edward was born on October 9, 1939, first child of Edward Nugent and Ann O’Connor and grew up in the bucolic area of the South Bronx, St. Luke’s Parish.
Ed graduated from St. Agnes High school and in 1981 graduated from Pace University. Ed joined the New York City Police department in 1962 and worked in the following commands, 25, 44, 41, 1DCO and SCU. He also had a career in IBM as a computer programmer after leaving the NYPD.
Ed is survived by the love of his life, Lyn (Geralyn Girardi) who he married in October 1986.Ed is Also survived by 4 children, Edward (Erin), Michael (Ellen), Brian (Tracey) and Kathleen Nugent Ouellette (Matt) and 8 grandchildren, Krista, Shaun, Brandon, Brian, Hannah, Samantha, Emma and Liam. Also survived by his cherished sister, Mary Olender (Dennis) and predeceased by his brother Terence Kevin. Also survived by many loving sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Ed was a lover of music and in 1963, joined the NYPD Emerald Society Pipe Band where he played both drums and bagpipes. He was on numerous committees and held many offices over the years. The band was dear to Ed and became his second family. He remained a member until his passing.
Visitation Friday 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM at the Cargain Funeral Home, 10 Fowler Avenue, Carmel, NY. Funeral Mass Saturday 10:00 AM at Our Lady of the Lake R.C. Church. Private Cremation.
