Franklyn Peter Mento was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on March 19,1941 to Charlotte McGuire and Michael Mento.
Frank attended Sewanhaka High School in Floral Park, NY and was a graduate of Seton Hall University in New Jersey. He studied Mathematics and became a well-respected accountant and CPA. He was a member of the National Guard, and later the Knights of Columbus.
Franklyn married the love of his life, Mary Jean Mento and enjoyed 50 beautiful years of marriage. Together they were active members of their community in Garden City. Frank and Mary served as Eucharistic Ministers in the Church of the Holy Spirit in New Hyde Park and were members of St. Anne’s Parish in Garden City as well. Frank was a loving and devoted husband. He and Mary Jean delighted in taking drives, looking at scenery and sunsets, and exploring the beauty of Maine on the many trips they took together.
Frank was also the beloved brother of Benita, best friend to her husband Bill, and favorite uncle of Beth and Eileen. They all adored him.
Family and friends will always remember Franklyn’s remarkable beauty inside and out! He was tall and handsome, with beautiful smiling eyes and a joyful spirit. All who knew Frank, loved him. Frank was kind, gentle, thoughtful, generous, loving and patient. He was a man of great faith who was charitable and always went out of his way to help others personally and professionally. Frank leaves a legacy of love, laughter, sweetness and compassion on God’s Earth. He is survived by his wife Mary Jean, Nieces Beth and Eileen, Nephews Todd and Andy, Great Nephews & Niece Will, Fiona and Hunter. They will love him always and forever.
