OBITUARY
MICHAEL J. DOLAN
(1944-2025)
Michael Joseph Dolan born August 21, 1944 passed away February 11, 2025.
He displayed a distinguished record of civic duty in both his community and country.
He honorably served as a U.S. Army Veteran with the 25th Infantry Division and was awarded the Purple Heart medal for his combat-wounded Vietnam military service.
He spearheaded efforts to redevelop the Veteran’s monument at NHP Memorial Park. His efforts also recognized NHP as the first village in Nassau County to be a Purple Heart Village and he secured support for the Hometown Heroes Banner Program by the Town of North Hempstead.
He honorably served as Chairman of the Nassau County Fire Commission prior to serving as Vice- Chairman of the NHP Fire Commission and was a former Chief of the fire department. He demonstrated remarkable commitment during his 50+ active years as a volunteer fireman.
Michael was passionately involved as a member of the Nassau County Operation Wounded Warriors’ Project, Firefighters Burn Center Foundation, Firefighters Children Museum, the New Hyde Park Elks Club, Cellini Lodge, Lions Club, Leisure Club, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Narrow Backs, VFW Post’s in New Hyde Park, Albertson and Franklin Square. The Military Order Purple Heart USA, and in all local fundraisers and events.
Michael is survived by his wife of 55 years, Frances, and their 9 children – Jennifer (Donald), Patricia (Diego), Deirdre, Tara, Colleen, Carrie, Mary Frances (John), Michael Jr. (Lauren), and Brian (Jennifer), including their 12 grandchildren.
The Dolan family request that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Michael Dolan’s memory to the R.J. Zuckerberg Cancer Center, located in New Hyde Park, NY.
